Auror hosted MPs from across the UK at a parliamentary drop-in event in April, sharing the work that retailers are doing in collaboration with police across the country to make stores, frontline colleagues and high streets safer.

Tesco, Boots, Morrisons and Lidl, joined the Auror team to show MPs how the Auror platform allows retailers to manage risk across their stores. The platform allows retailers to connect the dots on repeat offenders, surface the highest harm individuals and make digital crime reports to police, all of which contributes to a protective network effect in combating violent crime and loss in retail.

Carolyn Harris MP, Trade Envoy for New Zealand, sponsored the event, providing Auror and retailers the opportunity to engage with MPs on the issue of retail crime.

Auror VP UK and Europe Mark Gleeson said “there’s a growing realisation by government and policymakers that retail crime is not just shoplifting - it’s violent, brazen and organised - and it’s going to take a coordinated effort of police, retailers, unions and tech to get on top of it”.

The event brought together retailers including Tesco, Boots, Morrisons and Lidl to share the great work being done across the sector to stop retail crime.

“It was great to meet MPs to help them understand the scale of the problem and how the Auror Network is using technology to work together to deal with the high volume, violent and organised nature of retail crime,” he said.

“Shared intelligence is transforming outcomes for retailers and the communities they serve. That impact extends well beyond the large retailers to the independent shops, as these high harm, repeat offenders aren’t brand or store-loyal.

“As more retailers join the network, we’ll continue to see these positive impacts grow across our communities.”
