Auror, the global leader in retail crime intelligence, has partnered with the world’s leading public safety company, Axon Enterprise, to launch the new Retail Crime Hub, unlocking a more efficient way for North American law enforcement agencies to collaborate with retailers and stop crime in our communities.

Auror CEO and co-founder Phil Thomson joined Axon CEO and founder Rick Smith on stage at Axon Week in Phoenix, Arizona, in April to unveil the new platform.

The Retail Crime Hub integrates seamlessly with the cloud-native evidence management system, Axon Evidence, unlocking improved interaction with retailers to uncover the top organized retail crime syndicates and repeat offenders in an agency’s jurisdiction.

Mr Thomson said the Retail Crime Hub is a significant step towards streamlining digital crime reporting, investigation and evidence gathering in North America, saving police between three and five hours of time they would have otherwise spent driving to locations and manually collecting witness statements, CCTV and other evidence.

“Retail crime is having a serious impact on our communities and frontline retail workers - one in eight events across North America last year involved assault, threats, harassment, and even the use of weapons,” he said.

“This is about helping police focus their precious resources, reducing paperwork and administrative tasks, and providing them with high-quality, actionable information direct from the retailer community that can be used to hold prolific and violent offenders to account.”

The Retail Crime Hub is directly embedded within Axon Evidence and includes insights and dashboards featuring top offenders and enables easy transfer of investigation details into Axon Evidence to streamline case management.

In North America, 10 percent of offenders are responsible for more than 68 percent of total violence and loss in stores.

Through tech-based solutions like the Retail Crime Hub, retailers and law enforcement can better address this large-scale problem and finally gain full visibility of the issue.

The Retail Crime Hub is currently available as early access for public safety agencies, and will continue to be improved through innovative and new capabilities based on insights gained from real-world use ahead of making it generally available.

Mr Smith said Axon’s commitment to protecting life goes beyond traditional public safety — it reaches into the everyday realities of frontline workers facing real threats from organized retail crime in the workplace.

“As the latest milestone in our strategic partnership with Auror, this new integration—initially focused on empowering law enforcement—delivers immediate operational and investigative advantages, while enhancing collaboration with retailers to more effectively combat organized retail crime and advance community safety," he said.

Auror recently unveiled its renewed mission - to reduce violent retail crime by 50 percent in five years.

“Connecting our retail network with Axon’s vast law enforcement network is a game changer for our retail customers, but also for our goal to create safer stores and communities,” Mr Thomson said.

“Our strategic partnership with Axon, and the new Retail Crime Hub, will be critical to achieving our mission and making a real difference in our communities.”
