NEW DATA RELEASED FROM GLOBAL CRIME REPORTING SOFTWARE COMPANY, AUROR, CONFIRMS SERIOUS CRIME INCIDENTS ACROSS AUSTRALIA
New data released by Auror today reveals a continued increase in Australia of violent and aggressive behaviour when it comes to retail crime. Global trends released by the software company earlier this year suggested Australia is slightly ahead of the United States and New Zealand (as a percentage of crime).
Today, Auror confirmed that:
Across nearly 700,000 total retail crime events recorded by Australian retailers in the year ending 30 April 2024, 16% of all events reported into the platform include threatening or violent behaviour; and
More than half of those events are classified as 'serious', meaning they involve physical abuse, violence, or the use of a weapon
Serious events across the largest states included:
VIC - 18,893
NSW - 12,741
WA - 10,302
QLD - 9,147
