Vehicles don’t commit crimes, people do.
That’s why retailers and public safety leaders need actionable, connected intelligence to link vehicles of interest (VOIs) with the people who commit crimes.
For years, retail AP/LP and law enforcement organizations have trusted Auror LPR to help prevent and solve crime and violence. Unlike traditional LPR systems that operate on detection and manual hot lists, Auror LPR is backed by its Retail Crime Intelligence platform that empowers responsible cross-org collaboration with rich intel.
“Auror has a strong established partnership with Axis. Now that Vaxtor is joining forces with Auror and Axis, retailers can deploy a truly world-class end-to-end LPR solution for stopping crime in stores.”
– James Corbett, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Auror
What is LPR for retail?
License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology for retail is a solution that automatically reads and analyzes vehicle license plates. LPR solutions use high-resolution cameras and other systems to capture and convert images of license plates into alphanumeric text, which can then be cross-referenced. Retailers around the world have adopted LPR (sometimes known as ANPR or ALPR) increasingly as an important piece of their security strategies.
Next-Gen LPR consists of three main components:
Hardware: Cameras specifically designed to capture clear, readable images of license plates under various conditions, such as different lighting environments and speeds of movement.
Analytics: Camera technology that uses image processing and machine learning to automatically detect, read, and analyze license plate numbers from video footage. This allows users to identify vehicles and generate alerts based on the captured plate information.
Software: Programs that process the captured images, using Video Analytics technology to extract the license plate numbers and letters.
“Retailers need to achieve faster, safer outcomes. This partnership delivers an intelligent and integrated solution that accelerates those critical outcomes.”
– James Stark, Retail Segment Leader at Axis
